About Us

Advanced Driving Academy is an international driver and rider training organisation delivering an end-to-end solution to manage road safety and fleet risk — combining 1:1 in-vehicle training, digital learning, driver risk assessment, and road safety consultancy for organisations across the United Kingdom and East Africa.

Our Story

Advanced Driving Academy was founded in 2015 by David Watt and Jim Thompson, who recognised a critical safety gap: 1 in 3 road incidents involve someone who was driving for work. Drawing on decades of driver training experience across the UK and internationally, they set out to build cost-effective, high-quality training solutions for businesses of every size.

In 2023, that mission expanded to East Africa. Building on relationships in Kenya dating back to 2014, David identified strong demand for higher-quality road safety education at locally competitive pricing — bringing the same standards of training that had built the Academy's reputation in the UK to drivers and riders across the region.

Our Mission

"To deliver the best, most cost-effective driver training solutions to our clients, to build a culture of safety, and reduce the risk to those who drive for work."

That mission hasn't changed since 2015 — and it shapes everything from our 1:1 in-vehicle coaching to our online risk assessments and highway code testing.

Safety

The foundation for everything we do, from how we design a course to how we coach a driver on the road.

Passion

A genuine commitment to developing skilled, confident drivers and reducing incidents on the road.

Trust

Bespoke training and ongoing support that our clients and partners can rely on, wherever they operate.

Where We Work

Advanced Driving Academy operates across the United Kingdom and East Africa, with a growing footprint in Kenya, and remains open to international engagements. Whether it's a single driver risk assessment or a fleet-wide training rollout, our approach stays the same: practical, evidence-based training built around the roads our clients actually drive.
